OUR STORY
The patriarch of the Paschal family was George Paschal who was born in 1774 in Warren, North Carolina. He had one son with his wife, Peg in 1805. The son was named Abner. George, his wife, and son were taken to Lincoln County, Georgia as slaves in the early 1800’s. He died in September 1849 in Lincoln County, Georgia, having lived a long life of 75 years, and was buried there.
Abner had four children (Evans, Dave, Katie, and Ellen) with his first wife, Eliza Ann Paschal. Records show that Eliza died in 1849 (childbed fever). Abner married his second wife, Pricilla and they had13 additional children. Abner died in June 1881 and was buried in Lincoln County, Georgia, having lived to the age of 76. Pricilla Paschal is reported to have lived to the age of 110 and is buried in the church cemetery at Antioch CME Church with many other family members. Previous reunions in that area have made a pilgrimage to her grave site.
Abner was the first person the family to be a registered voter.
The descendants of Abner Paschal’s seventeen children are dispersed throughout the Country. For over thirty years many come together each year in July for a reunion.
